Day 118 – Cape Range – sunny 26

Check out Anna looking at his Arse!!!
After Glenn filling me in on his day it was my turn today and yes I was a bit nervous. From the boat ramp they ferry you to their boat along with 15 others. We weren’t long in the boat when we first jumped in for a swim on the reef.
A Blue Spotted Ray
I couldn’t believe it, without thinking I just took my leap of faith and never looked back, the water was beautiful and warm, warmer than the beach.
A Coral Shark
HELP!!!!!!
The fish were so colourful, we swam here for about a ½ hour before getting back on the boat for morning tea.
Amazing Experience
You  have to stay 4m away from the tail with good reason.
We had a few side shows from whales which were in the distance, but you couldn’t really see them clearly, and then the guide yells out on the top of his lungs “Whale sharkkkkkkk” the spotter plane had found one, instantly the boat picks up speed and heads for the plane. All of us get into position and put on our gear, before standing on the marlin deck, the spotter diver jumps in first and we follow once in position.
Humpbacks Dancing
And Tail Slapping
You wait in the water until you can see the Whale Shark coming and then you swim like mad to get out of its way, and swim on either side of it. Amazing. Our little darling was 4.5-5 metres and quite content for us to swim with him, this lasted for 45min until he got too close to the reef and we all had to jump back on the boat. I thought this would be the end of our adventure, we had lunch and watched the whales in the distance, this was until 8 beautiful beasts decided to give us a show 20 to 50 metres away from the boat. Boats are not allowed within 100 metres of the whales, that is they are not to approach them but the whales are allowed to come to us. Three of them were breaching out of the water for at least 30 minutes and then tail slapping for another 15 minutes, this just topped off the day.
Mum missed the kids (yeah right)
Good way to finish the day.
